Mortgage Calculator – Canada ("the App") is made by ChowChow Labs, an independent studio in Toronto, Canada. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.

1. Information you enter

You can enter figures such as a home price, down payment, interest rate, income, debts and property costs to estimate mortgage payments, land transfer tax, affordability and similar results. The App does not ask for your name, address, phone number or email, and you don't need an account.

These figures are calculated on your device and saved only on your device so they are still there next time, together with anything you choose to save to History. We do not receive them and do not keep a database of them. Deleting the App deletes them.

2. Housing market data

The App downloads public housing figures (Statistics Canada and CMHC open data) from mortgage.chowchowlabs.ca. This request sends nothing you entered in the App. As with any internet request, the server sees your IP address in standard access logs.

3. Advertising

The free version of the App shows ads through Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads): banner ads, occasional full-screen ads between calculators, and optional ads you choose to watch in exchange for a 24-hour unlock of Premium features. Premium removes all ads.

The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect information such as your IP address, device and advertising identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, and information about ad interactions and app performance. Google uses it for advertising, measurement, fraud prevention and diagnostics. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

4. Your advertising choices

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the App asks for your consent through Google's consent message before personalized ads are shown; you can change your choice at any time in the App under More › Settings › Ad privacy choices. The App also shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, the App works the same and ads may be less relevant. You can also limit ad tracking in your device's Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

5. In-app purchases

Premium is offered as a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription, processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment card or Apple ID details. Apple shares limited transaction reports with us under Apple's privacy policy. You can restore purchases on any device signed in with the same Apple ID, and manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings.

6. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Third-party services

Each provider handles information under its own privacy policy.

8. Estimates, not advice

Results are educational estimates, not financial, mortgage, tax or legal advice or a lending offer. The App is not affiliated with any bank, lender, Statistics Canada, CMHC or government body.

9. Changes

We may update this policy when the App or its services change. The new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
